The Oracle
Spatial Check Utility allows you to review your Oracle
spatial metadata, indexes and data in one
place, quickly and easily.
Inbuilt utilities simplify the process
of creating and maintaining your spatial
repository infrastructure while the data
panel enables viewing and reporting of
invalid spatial data.
The latest version of the Oracle
Spatial Check Utility comes in a
free and an unlockable premium version.
Please contact IME if you are interested
in the full version.
Export Your Oracle
spatial data to DXF files for offline
access in Autodesk Map directly from Oracle
9i or 10g
The current trend within the GIS community
is towards centralised spatial repositories
using relational databases such as Oracle.
While this move has huge benefits, there
is still a requirement for off-line access
this up-to-date data.
To resolve this issue, IME have developed
an application that runs on an Oracle
database. It can export a user defined
view of spatial data from multiple tables
into one DXF file.
The SwERVE XML-2-ORA utility will process XML and SWJ files produced by a SwERVE 4.1
Smallworld extract and automatically populated the tables, indexes, constrainsts and spatial data in Oracle.
The first of two passes processes the XML files, creating a table, primary key and data for each file. The utility differentiates between 4 geometry types, Text, Point, Polygon and Line, creating SDO_GEOMETRY objects and additional supporting attribute columns where appropriate.
The second pass processes the SWJ link files, creating intersection tables, foreign key constraints to the tables it links to and data.
The resulting datastructure can then easily be analysed with any case tool before being further optomised.

Out the box, Autodesk Map can access Spatial
Data held within Oracle Databases. The access
however has restrictions; Autodesk Map must
create and maintain spatial data within
its own repository for it to be visible
and each layer is held in a separate table.
It cannot reference 3rd party data - such
as GoLoader'ed Master Map.
The Oracle Data Link (ODL) utility enables
a GIS user to overcome these limitations
using a simple and intuitive windows form
based application that can run form any
PC with Oracle Client an the .net 2.0 framework.
Once information had been provided within
the form, the application creates the relevant
links and repository entries in Oracle to
enable themed 3rd party Oracle data within
Map to be displayed.
